How to write your ToS
How to write your Terms of Service policies
Terms of Service policies are the rules of your work. You, as an Artist, have full control over them, apart from the rules enforced by Ivy’s Terms of Service (link).
Generally speaking, you can put anything you deem necessary in your policy. However, it may be hard to organise the rules straight away, so here are some questions that might help you determine certain aspects of your policies:
- What are your overall do-s and don’t-s in commissions? Is there something you refuse to draw entirely? Maybe something you specialize in?
- Do you allow your work to be used commercially? If you do, do you wish to be credited for it?
- How may the client use your work overall?
- Do you do refunds? If so, under what circumstances?
- Do you take deposits for your work? Can the client pay in installments?
- How many and what type of corrections are included in your base price? How much do additional corrections cost?
- What is your policy regarding updates for the client?
Your Terms of Service policy will be shown to the client prior to them submitting their request. By doing so, they agree to your rules. Keep in mind that if anything is unclear to either you or the client, you can always contact each other via Chat.

Here’s an example of how your Terms of Service may look:
This is an example with arbitrary answers to the questions above, as well as additional minor details. You don’t have to follow it to make your own policy, it’s only here to guide you to the general direction.

- I do: humans, mecha, armour, old people
- I don’t: furry, animals, NSFW of any kind, gore
- Commercial use — + 100% of the price
- My work is okay to use for profile pictures, book covers/illustrations (upon previous agreement), merch (upon previous agreement)
- My work is NOT okay to use for AI training
- 30% of payment upfront, the rest is paid after the sketch is agreed
- Refunds only possible before the sketch is confirmed
- You can request however many corrections at the sketching stage, after which major corrections aren’t possible anymore
- I will provide regular updates throughout each stage of the work
Ivy’s Terms of Service also forbid stealing any work from here, including for AI training.
Important!
After an order is created and confirmed, meaning the Artist agrees to do the work requested, we copy the selected policy and attach it to the order. This means that any edits to the policy within the order are impossible. You can still edit the policy for future requests.
