Setting Up Your Portfolio
Your portfolio is your sales page. Clients browse it to judge your style, skill, and range before they ever send a message. This guide walks you through uploading work, organising it into collections, and optimising each piece for discovery.

How to upload
- Go to Portfolio in your artist dashboard.
- Click Upload Artwork (or drag files directly onto the page).
- For each file, fill in:
- Title — descriptive and searchable (e.g. "Cyberpunk Portrait — Neon City")
- Description — optional, but helpful for context and search
- Tags — add up to 10 tags (e.g.
character-art,sci-fi,digital-painting) - Collection — assign to an existing collection or create a new one
- Click Publish to make the piece public, or Save as Draft to keep it private.

Organising with collections
Collections let you group work by style, subject, or commission type. Clients can filter by collection on your profile, which helps them quickly find relevant examples.
Creating a collection
- In the Portfolio tab, click + New Collection.
- Give it a name (e.g. "Character Portraits", "Fan Art", "OC Commissions").
- Optionally add a cover image — this is the thumbnail clients see in the collection list.
- Click Create.

Recommended collections for most artists
- Featured — your absolute best 6–12 pieces (pin this at the top)
- Character Art — portraits, full-body, bust shots
- Scenes / Illustrations — multi-character or environmental work
- Fan Art — popular IP work that demonstrates range
- WIP / Sketches — optional; useful for showing your process
Setting a featured piece
Your featured piece appears at the very top of your profile as a large hero image. Choose something that best represents your current style and the type of commissions you want.
To set a featured piece:
- Open the piece from your portfolio.
- Click the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Set as Featured.
Optimising for discovery
IVY's search surfaces portfolio pieces based on tags, titles, and descriptions. A few practices that help:
- Use specific tags —
semi-realisticranks better thanart - Mention the subject — "wolf character sheet" is more searchable than "character sheet"
- Include media type —
digital-painting,pixel-art,watercolorare common filters - Update regularly — recently uploaded pieces receive a freshness boost in search for 72 hours
Managing existing pieces
You can edit, hide, or delete any piece at any time:
| Action | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Edit title / tags | Open piece → Edit |
| Move to different collection | Open piece → Edit → change Collection |
| Hide from public (keep draft) | Open piece → ⋮ → Set to Draft |
| Delete permanently | Open piece → ⋮ → Delete |
Warning: Deletion is permanent. If a piece is linked in an active commission thread, hiding it (Draft) is safer than deleting it.
Watermarking
IVY does not apply automatic watermarks. If you want to protect your work, apply a watermark before uploading. We recommend placing it at roughly 15–20% opacity across the centre of the image rather than in a corner, which is easy to crop.
Frequently asked questions
How many pieces can I upload? There is no hard limit on the number of pieces. Portfolio quality matters more than quantity — 30 strong pieces outperform 300 mediocre ones.
Can I reorder my portfolio? Yes. In the Portfolio tab, drag and drop pieces to reorder them within a collection. The order is saved automatically.
Will clients see pieces I set to Draft? No. Draft pieces are only visible to you in your dashboard.
Can I upload video files? Not yet. Short animated GIFs are the current alternative for animated work. Video support is on our roadmap.
